Adherence with referrals for outpatient follow-up from a VA psychiatric emergency room.

摘要: This study identifies patient characteristicsassociated with adherence to outpatient mental healthtreatment referrals from a VA psychiatric emergencydepartment. Attendance of appointments was monitored for 12 weeks following emergencydepartment visits (N = 241). Overall attendance thefirst 53%, ranging 34% thehomeless, 82% patients alcoholism inremission. Characteristics associated initialadherence included having place live and thediagnosis depression. At twelve weeks, the diagnosisof substance abuse worse ongoingadherence. The results underscore need developinterventions targeting at highest risk pooradherence.
