摘要: Within a recent study on the vibrissae motor performance after facial nerve repair in strains of blind (SD/RCS) and sighted (SD) rats we found that, despite persisting myotopic disorganization nucleus, animals fully restored vibrissal whisking. Here searched for morphological substrates better recovery regenerating motoneurons cerebral cortex. Expression analyses neurite growth-related proteins f-actin, neuronal class III beta-tubulin plasticity-related gene-1, stereological estimates growth cone densities revealed more vigorous regenerative response proximal stump SD/RCS compared with SD at 5-7 days buccal transection. Using c-Fos immunoreactivity as marker activation, that volume cortex acutely responding to transection (facial muscles reactive volume, FMRV) both hemispheres intact was twofold smaller than measured animals. One month suture right (FFA) increase FMRV rat The animals, but not rats, returned values 2 months FFA. Our findings suggest enhanced plasticity CNS an augmented injured contribute functional rats.
