摘要: Background Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory disease involving the intertriginous areas. Objective We sought to conduct clinical and histopathologic evaluation of efficacy long-pulsed neodymium:yttrium-aluminium-garnet laser treatment for HS. Methods conducted prospective, randomized, right-left within-patient controlled trial HS (n = 22). Four monthly sessions were performed. Disease activity was measured at baseline, response assessed before each session 2 months after completion treatment, using modified scoring system based on Sartorius score. Histologic examination performed immediately 1 4 weeks treatment. A patient questionnaire circulated last visit assess patients' level satisfaction. Results There progressive improvement in activity, most significantly during 4 months which maintained 2-month posttreatment follow-up period. Averaged over all anatomic sites, percent 72.7% treated side, 22.9% control side ( P Limitations Small sample size limitation. Conclusions Long-pulsed laser, together with topical benzoyl peroxide clindamycin, more effective than clindamycin alone Preliminary review histopathology suggests mechanism action destruction hair follicle. The overall success both clearing pre-existing lesions preventing new eruptions, coupled high satisfaction, makes promising advance this highly disabling condition.
