摘要: Eight trilateration networks located along the San Andreas fault in southern California have been surveyed 8 to 19 times within a 14- 17-year interval between 1971 and 1992. The data, measurements of distances same 10 32 pairs geodetic monuments network each surveys, corrected for coseismic offsets from nearby earthquakes calculated dislocation models. total 2027 measurements, are displayed form plots measured distance versus time 167 lines measured. hypothesis that interseismic deformation is steady tested by examining whether deviations linear fits data range expected observational error. A significant deviation found only neax Palmdale, California. In network, many made survey early 1982 deviate trend defined other surveys. not (fixed proportional error) one would generally expect systematic If excluded, remaining at Palmdale consistent with deformation. Thus apparent strain event observed near was transient.
