摘要: Abstract Passive microwave-derived ice edge locations in the Antarctic are assessed against situ observations from ships between 1989 and 2000. During growth season (March–October), ship data agrees with satellite very well, r2 values of 0.99 0.97 for Bootstrap Team algorithms, respectively. melt (November–February), agreement is not so good passive microwave typically 1–2° latitude south observations. This due to low concentration saturated nature ice, this period 0.92 0.80 Sensitivity studies show that such an offset summer location can cause significant errors trend extent sea cover Southern Ocean. The at observed by varies greatly, averaging 14% algorithm 19% Bootstrap. Comparisons SAR, Landsat OLS during while small-scale details lost, generally provide consistent representation higher resolution imagery.
