As August 2001, PIN contained 6825 records beetles (Coleoptera) in family Scolytidae that had been during years 1985-2000 from countries outside North America. Of scolytid interceptions, 2740 (40%) were identified to species level, 2336 (34%) only genus 1749 (26%) level. 49 genera, 10 most common Hypothenemus (821 interceptions), Pityogenes (662), Ips (544), Coccotrypes (520), Orthotomicus (461), Hylurgops (327), Hylurgus (266), Tomicus (194), Drycoetes (166), Hylastes (142). The chalcographus (565 erosus (385), palliatus (295), typographus (286), ligniperda (217), sexdentatus (157), piniperda (155), ater (75), hampei (62), Polygraphus poligraphus (48). these species, H. palliatus, ligniperda, T. are known be established continental scolytids 117 different countries; top 12 Italy (1090 Germany (756), Spain (457), Mexico (425), Jamaica (398), Belgium (352), France (261), China (255), Russia (247), India (224), U.K. (151), Portugal (150). 35 states 97 port cities. In general, there was a positive relationship between number interceptions individual value imports those countries. Overall, 73% found solid wood packing materials, 22% food or plants, 5% other unspecified materials. products commonly associated with scolytid-infested materials tiles, marble, machinery, steel, parts, ironware, granite, aluminum, slate, iron. plants infested included nutmeg, palms, coffee beans, kola nuts, macadamia nuts.
