Thinking about Accountability

摘要: Accountability is a key component of healthcare reforms, in Canada and internationally, but there increasing recognition that one size does not fit all. A more nuanced understanding begins with clarifying what meant by accountability, including specifying for what, whom, to whom how. These papers arise from Partnership Health System Improvement (PHSI), funded the Canadian Institutes Research (CIHR), on approaches accountability examined across multiple subsectors Ontario. The partnership features collaboration among an interdisciplinary team, working senior policy makers, clarify known about best practices achieve under various circumstances. This paper presents our conceptual framework. It examines potential (policy instruments) postulates their outcomes may vary subsector depending upon (a) goals being pursued, (b) governance/ownership structures relationships (c) types goods services delivered, production characteristics (e.g., contestability, measurability complexity).
