摘要: “Şizofreni ile epilepsinin birlikte bulunmayacagi” dusuncesi, arastirmacilarin yapay konvulsiyon olusturma konusuna ilgi duymalarina yol acmistir. Fritsch ve Hitzig 1870’de beyinin elektrik akimiyla uyarilabilecegini dusunmuslerdir11-12. Şizofrenik katatonik hastalarin spontane gecirdikten sonra, onceki durumlarina gore, duzeldiklerini gozlemleyen Von Meduna, sizofreni birbirini antagonize ettigini dusunerek ilk kez 1934’te “kafuru” kullanarak olusturmus daha etkisi gec ortaya cikan kafuru yerine, damar ici pentilentetrazol (metrazol) kullanmaya baslamistir. Meduna’nin epilepsi birlikteliginin beklenenden az goruldugu yonundeki gorusunun sonra gercegi yansitmadigi anlasilmistir.
