摘要: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a highly technical procedure requiring team that consists of an anesthetist, psychiatrist, clinical nurse specialist, and recovery nurses. Traditionally, nursing education training in the context providing safe high standard care has not been addressed. Ninety-two nurses from 42 different health agencies participated program focusing on defibrillation, electrocardiogram (ECG) electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring, intubation, stimulus dosing, setting up ECT equipment, caring for patient. A non-experimental, one-group, pretest-posttest research design was used this study to evaluate effectiveness working with ECT. Effective hypothesized make difference standards practice patients undergoing Findings indicated major knowledge deficit key components among who have responsibilities area care. With effective training, nurses' confidence levels increased related administering double dose, helping using defibrillator. If are effectively function as members procedure, they must receive necessary prepare them important role. The results support recommendation Royal Australian New Zealand College Psychiatrists should be appropriately trained anaesthetic resuscitation techniques modern practice.
