摘要: Abstract Lake circulation is an important phenomenon that ensures oxygenation of the water column. Here we report aeration anoxic hypolimnion causes production highly reactive hydroxyl radicals ( OH), which are also produced photochemically in epilimnion. Model calculations suggest dark process OH generation can be comparable with photochemical reactions some lake environments, provided a significant fraction whole volume. In these cases, overturn could significantly contribute to yearly budget and might cause degradation pollutants, for reaction removal from surface waters.
