摘要: Normal endothelial cell function is controlled in part by a tightly regulated balance between angiopoietin-1 and -2 (Ang-1 Ang-2). Angiopoietin dysregulation (decreased Ang-1 increased Ang-2) leads to an activated endothelium that contractile, adhesive, prothrombotic. Since phenotype seen invasive group A streptococcal infection, E. coli O157:H7-induced hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS), sepsis, we hypothesized angiopoietin might also be present these syndromes, end, measured levels several well-characterized patient cohorts. Decreased and/or Ang-2 were found all three predictive of clinical outcome HUS sepsis. The prognostic utility sepsis was further enhanced combination with biomarkers inflammation. may therefore represent shared final common pathway activation as well clinically useful biomarker toxic shock, HUS,
