CHLORINATED HYDROCARBON (HCB, DDTs AND PCBs LEVELS IN CETACEANS STRANDED ALONG THE ITALIAN COASTS: AN OVERVIEW

摘要: Concentrations of HCB, DDTs and PCBs in the tissues andorgans cetaceans ( Stenella coeruleoalba, Tursiops truncatus, Balaenoptera physalus, Steno bredanensis}, Grampus griseus} Globicephala melaena) strandedalong Italian coasts period 1987–1993 are reported. The values compared between speciesand specimens samespecies. Chlorinated hydrocarbon (CH) levels were found toincrease relation to quantity andtype lipids each tissue organ. Differences inaccumulation encountered differentspecies principally due different feeding habitats.Remarkable differences malesand females species confirm that during gestation andlactation, undergo disintoxication by passing much their total burden CHs young.
