摘要: Abstract Isotopic signatures and organochlorine pollutant loads of organisms reflect the characteristics waters in which they live feed. To investigate population structure bottlenose dolphins around Iberian Peninsula we determined δ13C δ15N skin (OC) levels blubber stranded inhabiting Mediterranean (Catalonia, Valencia Balearic Islands) adjacent Atlantic (Huelva Portugal). OC were high all regions, reflecting predatory habits species, its coastal distribution existence intense agricultural industrial activity throughout region. PCB congeners showed a gradient from relatively more chlorinated forms to those that are less so, followed northeast northwest direction across Peninsula. This suggests inputs recent temperate latitudes eastern Ocean than western Sea. Comparatively, ratios isotopic proved be efficient ways discriminating groups did raw concentrations. Significant differences congener profiles indicate do not intermingle. In addition, two differed signature, tDDT concentration, DDT / PCB ratio profile, also some degree isolation between them. Mediterranean, Catalonia indistinguishable, suggesting common area. However, Islands their other sample profiles, supports hypothesis deep represent an effective barrier for species.
