摘要: In order to elucidate the biological role of sulfatide it is important define cellular and subcellular distribution its various molecular species (e.g. fatty acid chain length hydroxylation). We determined in rat cerebellum using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS). TOF-SIMS detects ions up m/z 10000 enables simultaneous imaging lateral substances on an exposed surface, this case a section through cerebellum. addition we analyzed monoclonal antibody confocal laser scanning microscopy. white matter, showed uniform with short acids patchy C24 acids. These patches had low cholesterol signal. The granular layer more species, highest signal C24. Purkinje cells were devoid signals. Immunofluorescence intensity lower absence fluorescence cells. results are discussed relation previously published data possible functional roles.
