摘要: Algal growth in wastewater ponds has two contradicting effects on fecal coliforms (FC) decay. On the one hand, algal photosynthesis increases FC decay due to increased pH and DO. However, other attenuation of solar radiation by matter reduces rate. It was therefore investigated if suppressing development could enhance removal efficiency. Limiting accomplished inserting duckweed between a series ponds. Duckweed are modified stabilization ponds, covered with mat small floating plants, that known remove from pond effluent. The five shallow compared an integrated system consisted mini-ponds (30 cm depth) series: – pond. environmental factors affect were monitored related rates. In conventional light became rate-limiting for system, concentration reduced intermediary This shown increase considerably, system. An improved is proposed, expected reduce significantly area requirements systems.
