摘要: Research on the mental health effects of quitting smoking is limited. Smokers with illness appear to be at a higher risk unsuccessful cessation. Recent work suggests they are elevated for post-cessation increases in anxiety, depression and suicidal ideation. The current study tested successful cessation short-term psychopathology 192 community participants. Smoking outcomes were classified using expired carbon monoxide levels that taken quit week, 1 2 week follow-up month follow-up. We found no participants who successfully smoking. For individuals struggling our results partially supported recently proposed quitters hypothesis. However, vast majority posited vulnerable by hypothesis did not experience clinically significant psychopathology. These findings have implications clinicians whose clients interested
