Stress and Relief: Parents Attending a Respite Program

摘要: Objective The objectives of this study were to examine changes in stress among parents children with special needs a respite service and consider parental experience the service. Methods Families who enrolled ten-month centre-based program invited participate evaluation. Change parent stress, indexed by Parent Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF), was determined. These results compared findings from exploratory qualitative interviews subset small comparison group also completed PSI-SF. Results At baseline, 69% (n=45) had high total scores on No significant improvements detected over time or differences group. In contrast, subgroup (n=10) participated described substantial benefits including sense relief having for other activities. Conclusions It is proposed that may have provided temporary break thereby bestowing relief, but not adequate impact more chronic patterns, suggesting these are related separate constructs experiences.
