摘要: We produced intraocular pressure (IOP) elevations in 32 primate eyes and studied retinal ganglion cell rapid axonal transport with autoradiography electron microscopy. Animals breathing room air at sea level were compared to animals 100% oxygen 3 atm a hyperbaric chamber. Despite major increases arterial levels the hyperbarically oxygenated animals, both groups had blockade optic nerve head. Anoxia appears not be most important cause of acute damage induced by elevated IOP. The pattern abnormality within individual fiber bundles head provides support for mechanical compression as more likely alternative neural damage.
