摘要: Phytochemicals are bioactive non-nutrient compounds with protective or disease preventive properties. Considering the importance of phytonutrients, biochemical analysis Indian potato genotypes diverse skin and flesh colour was performed. Significant variations in total anthocyanin, carotenoids phenolic content were observed tuber as well whole peel, thus edifying a potential source phytonutrients. Potato peel which accounts for only about 10% sample weight has been found to have significant nutritional composition. The genotypic estimated be 20 fold 3 carotenoid content. Higher magnitude phenotypic variance ratios all three parameters signify their transmission into next generation lesser influence environment on accumulation due minor difference between coefficient variation. Out thirty two tested, eight excelling phytonutrients evaluated. identified present study can utilised genetic base breed novel fortified, coloured varieties. alluring may variegate consumer's plate additional health benefits.
