摘要: The article surveys Russia?s regional and centre-periphery developments their wider implications for the country?s political, economic, territorial future. In particular, it discusses President Putin's federalism local government interventions takes stock of outcome these other relevant federal initiatives. paper also broader authoritarian state-building country's social, cohesion. Globalization-related external influences on economies politics are discussed significance hitherto largely neglected variable geography in shaping nature intensity is highlighted. Using examples from China India, shows how globalization may have highly uneven economic political impacts territorially large countries. suggests that Russia, players such as EU, Western donors, or multinational corporations impinge upon tendencies however they only bound to increase socio-economic divergence given spatially nature.
