摘要: Abstract The bonding of molecular N 2 has been investigated with angle resolved photoelectron spectroscopy and inelastic electron scattering. spectra obtained from chemisorbed onto a Ni(110) surface are compared to CO physisorbed Pd(111). axis was found be normal the crystal for state on random NN NiN stretching frequecies indicate that molecule is terminally bonded single Ni atom Ni(110). binding energies two outer σ states one π were measured, indicating metal different than CO. Both drop in energy level due fact both them involved substrate bond. symmetry gas phase reduced upon adsorption. consequences this seen dipole active vibrational mode, large intensity Ni-N mode coupling adsorbate 4σ(2σ u ) final resonance which forbidden by phase. Many excitation satellite lines observed valence . nearly identical those , while new structure, interaction substrate.
