摘要: Structure and climate of the east North Atlantic are appraised within a framework in situ measurement altimeter remote sensing from 08^608N. Long zonal expendable bathythermograph/conductivity ^ temperature^ depth probe sections show repeating internal structure Ocean. Drogued buoys subsurface £oats give westward speeds for eddies wavelike structure. Records longterm current meter deployments periodicity Eddy wave characteristics period, size or wavelength, propagation speed, mean currents derived at 208N, 268N, 32.58N, 368N 488N measurements It is shown that ocean eddy-like features measured correlate with Interior crests cold dome-like temperature structures cyclonic have negative surface anomalies; mesoscale troughs warm anticyclonic positive height anomalies. Along Eastern Boundary, £ows examined terms sla Oscillation (NAO) Index. Longterm changes circulation data. 1992 to 2002 Current Subtropical Gyre transport determined data winter NAO Index such maximum £ow conditions occurred 1995 2000. Minimum between 1996^1998. Years extreme result enhanced poleward along Boundary anomalous warming West European Continental Slope as was 1990, 1996, 1998 2001.
