摘要: Abstract The results of numerical modelling in the Bay Biscay have been used to investigate eddy dynamics. has carried out using mean climatological and atmospheric forcing as input for hydrodynamic simulations with ROMS model (Regional Ocean Modeling System). most significant regional circulation features simulated a mesoscale configuration, 6.6 km horizontal resolution. Eddy characteristics (horizontal vertical structure, origins migration) analysed. During winter, jet-like extensions slope current off northern Spain (mainly vicinity Cape Ortegal) France (near Cap Breton, Ferret Audierne canyons) developed into anticyclonic cyclonic eddies, an upper core water. Most eddies identified area were anticyclonic, diameters at sea surface between 60 130 km effects below 500 m depth. After their generation, moved slowly westward, migration speed less than 2 cm s −1 ; they dissipated later year deep basin Biscay. annual kinetic energy, estimated model, was around 34 cm 2 s −2 . Both energy vorticity variability study depend upon changes (magnitude direction) wind stress, which on development of: poleward current; Galician upwelling; generation migration.
