摘要: Many neoplasms with spitzoid features remain enigmatic, especially those intermediate grade or "atypical tumors" (ASTs). Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) has emerged as a complementary technique to conventional microscopy, certain chromosomal patterns conveying diagnostic information. In this study, we examined 36 ASTs analyzed by FISH for specific abnormalities chromosomes 6, 9, and 11. Aberrations were detected 11 cases, 7 of which met criteria melanoma. These had homozygous deletion 9p21, partial 11q13, gain 6p25, 11q13. All 3 patients positive sentinel lymph nodes, including one progression beyond the node, chromosome but there no deaths an average 28 months follow-up these cases. Other aberrations pattern heterozygous 6p23, tetraploidy. We found that ASTs, eventually diagnosed melanoma, more indolent course our cohort than malignant Moreover, addition results led definitive diagnosis 4 on consistent
