摘要: Historically, the ability of people diagnosed with medical conditions to meet and organize has been restricted real-world support groups exchanges support. The pre-web Internet digitized these interactions allow patients communicate from comfort their homes a time choosing. More recently, era social network, “big data”, ubiquitous electronic devices have combined patient empowerment movement create number opportunities in human computation. Today, serious illnesses are sharing data online whether it is genetic profile, treatments, symptoms, outcomes, or treatment evaluations. They not only contributing research by donating data, they mobilizing conduct own ways that can circumvent even outpace traditional establishment. Most significantly for existing system, shown through distributed computation predict outcome clinical trials, one most expensive parts healthcare process cost anywhere $300 m $1.2b run which could mean balance power will shift as “subjects” truly becoming informed empowered participants. In this chapter we consider history movement, recent advances collection analysis those illness, benefits accruing “virtuous circle” condition-orientated computation, burgeoning availability continuous sensor networks smartphones, briefly some risks limitations current approaches.
