摘要: Abstract A series of 235 consecutive patients referred to the Stanford University Sleep Disorders Clinic with complaint excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) were investigated extensively. satisfactory final diagnosis involving a consistent syndrome or pathogenic process was made in all but 7 patients. In course this work variety tests, including prolonged polygraphic monitoring multiple variables and CSF measurements before after probenecid ingestion, utilized. Different syndromes confirmed (harmonious hypersomnia, subwakefulness syndrome); definitions others clarified extended (narcolepsy, drug dependency, periodic hypersomnia associated menstruation, upper airway sleep apnea children). Two new entities tentatively identified (narcolepsy apnea, neutral state syndrome). Narcolepsy accounted for majority cases (199). strategic schema utilizing specific categories frequency occurrence case is presented improve by practicing physician. This analysed order develop meaninfgful nosology.
