摘要: Although the sleep disorder, narcolepsy, was first described in medical literature a century ago, modern era of research did not begin until 1950s when rapid eye movements (REMs) were discovered (Aserinsky and Kleitman, 1953). Since then, field has expanded rapidly, with development specialized centers for study which utilize all-night recordings electroencephalogram (EEG), electrooculogram (EOG), electromyogram (EMG), other physiological measurements. Organizations such as American Association Sleep Disorder Centers Psychophysiological Study have been working to bring better definition standardization provide stage exchange information discussion controversial areas.
