摘要: This study investigates the incidence, recurrence, and risk factors of febrile seizures in southern Chinese children. A retrospective a 5-year period (March 1998 through February 2003) was conducted for all children admitted with first seizure to university teaching hospital Hong Kong, serving population 31,700 under 6 years. total 565 (329 males, 236 females) were identified mean age 2.1 ± 1.1 The annual incidence 0.35%. Among them 16% (91/565) had complex seizures. Family history afebrile present 17.5% 2.7% respectively. follow-up 2.33 1.69 Altogether 103 (18%) cumulative rates by 1, 2, 3 years 12.7%, 18.7%, 20.5% Three significant higher recurrence: early onset, family seizure, seizure. is low compared Western world relatively similar mainland China. Recurrence also lower despite similarities predictive factors. Further epidemiologic genetic studies will be necessary confirm explain this interethnic variation.
