摘要: Abstract The corrosion behaviour of steel was studied in aerated near neutral citrate solutions without and with various concentrations NaCl. potentiodynamic anodic polarization curve 0.1 M solution exhibits four peaks A1, A2, A3 A4 prior to the oxygen evolution reaction. Addition Cl− ions enhances currents, specially A3, which is followed by pitting corrosion. negative going scans cyclic voltammograms show two reactivation A5 A6 one cathodic plateau P1. A diffusion controlled process potential range A2 P1 detected RDE experiments. potentiostatic current time transients, at different NaCl applied potentials Ea > A3, were studied. pit nucleation rate (ti−1) found increase increasing concentration potential. impedance spectra exhibit behaviours depending on used. They fitted a single constant circuit Ea   −480 mV, second semicircle replaced resistance disappeared Ea > −300 mV. electrode decrease
