摘要: Abstract The in vitro and vivo cell tissue responses to two novel biomaterials, namely sponges of ethylene:vinyl acetate copolymer (Elvax) tetrafIuoroethylene: perfluoro 3,6-dioxa-4-methyl-7-octenesulphonyl fluoride (Nafion) commercially available silicone rubber sponge (Silastic) expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (Goretex) have been evaluated. All four materials failed elicit a cytotoxic response however varying degrees stability biocompatibilitywere observed subcutaneous implants upto 12 weeks mice. Nafion Goretex were the most stable materials. However, generated greater multinuclear giant than did or Elvax. Elvax very slightly reduced size over 12-week period. Cell ingrowth greatest period study sponges. Silastic broken down rapidly elicited an inflammatory which, likely, was due presence soluble component sponge. These results suggest that Elvax, are well tolerated comparison preparation used this study. performance warrants further research into their use as biomaterials either connective replacements (in form sponges) components other soft prostheses.
