摘要: Objective: To study the cellular populations of healthy corneas Indian eyes using confocal microscopy and to evaluate correlation with age, gender laterality. Methods: The central 100 50 subjects were examined an i n-vivo slit scanning microscope (Confoscan 2). Images analysed for cell densities epithelium, stroma endothelium. Results: Good quality images enabling analysis all layer obtained in 74 43 (22 males 21 females) a mean age 31.89 ± 13.47 (range 19-71 years). basal epithelial density was 3601.38 408.19 cells/mm2 3017.3 -4231.1cells/mm2). keratocyte nuclei anterior 1005.02 396.86 571.6 - 1249.6 cells/mm2) posterior 654.32 147.09 402.6 1049.1 cells/mm2). Posterior 30.76% less than stromal density. difference statistically significant (P=0.001). endothelial 2818.1 361.03 2118.9 4434 area found be 385.44 42.66 mm2 268.9 489.2 mm2). Hexagonal cells formed 22.5 69.4% (mean 42.04 11.81%). Mean coefficient size variation 32.29 3.06 27.2 39.2). No differences any corneal either between female male patients or right left eyes. Basal density, unaffected by (r= 0.12, 0.07, 0.12 respectively) (P= 0.001). There negative increase 0.42, P=0.001). Coefficient positively correlated (r=0.73, Conclusion: In-vivo is useful populations. Our provides normative data these
