摘要: Leucocytozoon parasites infect a large number of avian hosts, including domestic chicken, and cause significant economical loss to the poultry industry. Although transmission stages were observed in blood cells more than century ago, specific host cell type(s) that gametocytes remain uncertain. Because all cells, red (RBCs), are nucleated, developing dramatically change morphology infected it has been difficult identify cell(s). Here we use cell-type antibodies investigate identities by sabrazesi gametocytes. Anti-RBC stained RBCs membrane strongly, but not parasite-infected ruling out possibility being cells. Antibodies recognizing various leukocytes heterophils, monocytes, lymphocytes, macrophages did stain either. Antisera raised against peptide parasite cytochrome B (CYTB) some leukocytes, particularly with single round nucleus as well clear/pale cytoplasm suggestive thrombocytes. Finally, monoclonal antibody known specifically bind chicken thrombocytes also confirming L. develop within The identification solves long unresolved puzzle provides important information for studying invasion reagents interrupt transmission.
