摘要: Summary Eukaryotic chromosomes contain a locus, the centromere, at which force is applied to separate replicated chromosomes. A centromere analogue also found in some bacterial plasmids and chromosomes, although not yet identified well-studied Escherichia coli chromosome. We aimed identify centromere-like sequences E. with premise that such would be first migrate towards cell poles, away from centre where DNA replication believed occur. have labelled different loci on chromosome by integrating arrays of binding sites for LacI–EYFP phage λcI–ECFP supplying these fusion proteins trans. Comparison pairs suggests presence site close origin replication. Polar migration was dependent migS, locus recently implicated migration, thus providing strong support migS being centromere.
