摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter describes the present state of knowledge on structure and metabolism related glucan components yeast cell walls. Many earlier structural studies involved commercial samples pressed baker's and, although these enabled main features to be identified, they were limited value from a metabolic point view. With recent improvements in polysaccharide fractionation methods analysis, it is now possible use smaller laboratory-scale cultures as experimental material, hence, relate changes cell–wall with growth. The analysis preparations isolated various species also described, where all constituent monosaccharide residues are assumed have D-configuration. discusses synthesis nucleoside diphosphate sugar compounds by variety enzyme preparations, lastly deals physiological control content walls during conditions
