摘要: Several chemical markers of organic matter source and age are shown to be susceptible light-induced alteration. To test for the photochemical lability previously employed sediments from Louisiana coastal zone, we subjected under resuspension conditions simulated sunlight, monitored changes in C:N Br:OC ratios, δ13C, Δ14C, lignin composition. Markers terrigenous origin (high C:N, lignin) decreased δ13C became enriched containing primarily matter, while a marker marine (Br:OC) samples significant contributions this source. Preferential loss 14C all indicated enhanced relatively recent origin, consistent with markers. Most, but not all, experimental alterations field distributions these Relatively small combination confounding processes environment, however, prevent parallel trends providing any more than consistency importance reactions region.
