摘要: American Studies is an academic discipline whose object of study the United States America and everything associated with it, sociologists largely ignore it. ignores sociology. What causes this mutual exclusion? An outline disciplinary history journal article citation data show that relationship between sociology weak asymmetrical; cites more often, but very little not by much. I argue exclusion due to distrust in methods: sees itself as a science, while Studies, roots literature, does not. This serves case limits interdisciplinarity.
