摘要: Abstract Objectives The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to answer the following PICO question: what is efficacy silver nitrate, as compared placebo, in managing clinical symptoms recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS)? Methods A protocol registered with PROSPERO (CRD42020193435). Four electronic databases (PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, EMBASE via OVID, Web Science) were searched from inception May 2020. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) meeting criteria included. Risk bias assessed using risk tool. Meta-analyses conducted mean difference (MD) 95 % confidence intervals (CI). Statistical heterogeneity through calculation I2 index. Results Three RCTs identified comparing nitrate placebo. Silver found resolve RAS significantly quicker than placebo; MD: −2.52 days (95 CI: −0.63 −4.41, p = 0.009). re-epithelise ulcers albeit insignificantly; −1.44 0.26 −3.14, 0.10). No adverse events due therapy reported any studies. Conclusions findings indicate that may be effective RAS, no thus far. More high-quality are needed validate these findings.
