Cost effectiveness of contraceptives in the United States

摘要: Abstract Background The study was conducted to estimate the relative cost effectiveness of contraceptives in United States from a payer's perspective. Methods A Markov model constructed simulate costs for 16 contraceptive methods and no method over 5-year period. Failure rates, adverse event rates resource utilization were derived literature. Sensitivity analyses performed on failure rates. Results Any is superior ���no method���. three least expensive copper-T intrauterine device (IUD) (US$647), vasectomy (US$713) levonorgestrel (LNG)-20 system (IUS) (US$930). sensitive methods, an unintended pregnancy plan disenrollment Conclusion IUD, LNG-20 IUS are most cost-effective available States. Differences costs, time horizon influential factors that determine overall value method.
