摘要: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Although intrauterine devices (IUDs) and subdermal implants (SDI) are recommended as first-line contraception for the majority of women by American College Obstetrics Gynecology these methods long-acting reversible (LARC) underutilized. Some concerns regarding their use include cost placement side effects perception frequent early removal. This study evaluated satisfaction with LARC frequency reasons behind removal in a family medicine setting. METHODS: Women > 18 years seen an IUD or SDI were identified from billing data surveyed via telephone to determine LARC. Additional demographic information was extracted electronic health record. RESULTS: Of 132 respondents (response rate 61.4%) 58.3% had IUDs 41.7% SDIs placed. Early occurred 24.2% 72.7% satisfied contraceptive choice. Younger nulliparous more likely have placed whereas older multiparous chose IUD. less removed early. Pain (more commonly reported IUD) increased bleeding SDI) associated rates. CONCLUSIONS: Most who received choice only one four is significantly better than continuation rates other methods. good candidates continuing women.
