Learning About Job Search: A Field Experiment with Job Seekers in Germany

摘要: We conduct a large-scale field experiment in the German labor market to investigate how information provision affects job seekers’ employment prospects and outcomes. Individuals assigned treatment group of our received brochure that informed them about search strategies consequences unemployment, motivated actively look for new employment. study causal impact by comparing outcomes treated untreated seekers administrative data containing comprehensive on individuals’ status earnings. While yields overall positive effects, these tend be concentrated among who are at risk being unemployed an extended period time. Specifically, effects sample moderately but mostly insignificant. At same time, we do observe pronounced statistically significant individuals exhibit increased long-term unemployment. For this group, increases earnings year after intervention roughly 4%. Given low cost intervention, findings indicate targeted can highly effective policy tool market.
