摘要: Color variation in companion animals has long been of interest to the breeding and scientific communities. Simple traits, like black versus brown or yellow black, have helped explain principles transmission genetics continue serve as models for studying gene action interaction. We present a molecular genetic review pigmentary dogs cats using nomenclature logical framework established by early leaders field. For most loci which variants identified (nine seven cats), homologous mutations exist laboratory mice and/or humans. Exceptions include K locus Tabby cats, give rise alternating stripes marks different color, illustrate continued potential coat color provide insight into areas that transcend pigment cell biology.
