摘要: Background The understanding of gender differences in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients is an important step towards tailored treatment for the individual patient. aim this study was to compare phenotype, clinical manifestations, activity, and healthcare utilization between men women with Crohn's (CD) ulcerative colitis (UC). Methods Two multicenter observational cohort studies a prospective design were used explore regarding demographic phenotypic characteristics utilization. Detailed data on IBD-phenotype mainly available from Dutch IBD Biobank, while COIN provided data. Results In Biobank study, 2118 CD 1269 UC analyzed. Female more often current smokers, male previous smokers. Early onset (<16 years) frequently encountered males than females (20% versus 12%, P < 0.01). Male diagnosed ileal (28% 20%, 0.01) underwent small ileocecal resection. Extraintestinal manifestations (EIMs) female patients. 1139 1213 prednisone suffered osteopenia. IBD-specific costs did not differ Conclusions Sex include age onset, location, EIM prevalence. No large therapeutic management observed IBD.
