Effects of an empowerment-based psychosocial intervention on quality of life and metabolic control in type 2 diabetic patients

摘要: This study was aimed at determining impact of an empowerment-based psychosocial intervention on the patients' quality life and glycemic control as compared to patients in standard care. Consecutively recruited type 2 diabetic patients, scheduled for their regular medical check-ups, were individually acquainted with principles invited participate empowering course. The response rate 35% giving a number 73 who treated eight separate groups. reported be improved after course regarding its psychological social aspects. Their also remained so 3- 6-month follow-up periods, still being category poor control. Empowerment-based shown favourably affect improve metabolic control, latter modest degree. Better educated believing internal health efficacy diabetes treatment seemed benefit most. Further research is needed order highlight individual preferences different educational approaches, well cultural factors affecting them.
