Strangers in strange lands: a metasynthesis of lived experiences of immigrant asian nurses working in Western countries.

摘要: Nurses from Asian countries make up the majority of immigrant nurses globally. Although there are a limited number studies on lived experiences working in Western countries, development nursing science will be impeded if rich understanding gleaned these is not synthesized. Using Noblit and Hare's (Meta-ethnography: Synthesizing Qualitative Studies. Newbury Park, Calif: Sage; 1988) procedures, metasynthesis was conducted 14 that met preset selection criteria. Four overarching themes emerged: (a) communication as daunting challenge; (b) differences practice; (c) marginalization, discrimination, exploitation; (d) cultural differences. Based metasynthesis, large narrative expanded interpretation constructed implications for knowledge development, clinical practice, policy making elaborated.
