Herba Epimedii: anti-oxidative properties and its medical implications.

摘要: Herba Epimedii is a Chinese herbal medicine with proven efficacy in treating cardiovascular diseases and osteoporosis, improving sexual neurological functions. This found to be related the potent anti-oxidative ability of its flavonoid components, icarrin as main effective constituent, along polysaccharides vitamin C. These ingredients have been against oxidative-stress pathologies (cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer’s disease inflammation) animal rodent models vitro studies. Their properties are an inductive effect on endogenous free-radical scavenging enzymes such catalase glutathione peroxidase inherent electron-donating flavonoids.
