摘要: Proopiomelanocortin (POMC) is a neuropeptide precursor molecule which translocated to the secretory pathway within neuroendocrine cells. It cleaved by action of endopeptidases yield mature peptides like adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH), beta-lipotrophin (beta-LPH), beta-endorphin. In this review we present evidence on cleavage specificities and structure endoproteases cleave precursors at pairs basic amino acids identity mode exopeptidases. This information derived from cloning their corresponding cDNAs subsequent expression cells; also biochemical studies. We discuss intracellular targeting sorting mechanisms POMC examine tissue-specific post-translational processing anterior intermediate lobes pituitary gland central nervous system.
