摘要: Interpreting changes in continuous structural outcome measures is a common problem clinical research and daily practice. We propose method for estimating whether difference observed between two successive an individual constitutes statistically relevant change or induced by variability. This based on analysis of reproducibility. The measure investigated as example was joint space width (JSW) measurement standard X-rays, which known to be the primary end-point assessing osteoarthritis progression. results present study demonstrate that cutoffs are closely dependent all sources variabilities JSW such positioning, radiographic procedure, process itself. Therefore, we suggest determine each using representative sample population studied procedures methods specific study. approach may easily extended other measures.
