摘要: Abstract A series of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), including 5,8,11,14,17-cis-eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and 5,8,11,14-cis-arachidonic (ARA), have widespread nutritional pharmaceutical value. This study investigated the potential production two economically important with a fungal fermentation process. The substrates for process were crude soybean oil (SBO), sucrose waste stream (SWS) soymeal (SMW). Glucose (GLU) was used as substrate in control groups. microorganisms Mortierella elongata NRRL 5513 Pythium irregulare ATCC 10951. use P. 10951 is preferred since it produced high levels reasonable ratios EPA ARA at various temperatures (12, 18 24°C). An advantage its ability to produce room temperature, which desirable commercial applications. Soybean had unique characteristic stabilizing pH; optimal initial pH 6.0. emulsifier, Tween 80, allowed much greater dispersion SBO aqueous broth helped increase production. In experiments exploring combination effects sugars (1, 2 3%) (4%) 80 (0.2%) 12, 24°C, yields SMW + significantly higher than those GLU SWS SBO. greatest (1400 mg/l) obtained 12°C (1% SMW, 4% SBO). Cultivation reduced increased lipid unsaturation. highest level appeared 18°C − (2000 mg/l), statistically interactive temperature-media combination. ARA/EPA ratio this ranged from 0.2 4.0, would be food additive or supplement applications, e.g infant formula.
