摘要: Osteoporosis compromises bone strength and increases the risk of fracture. Decreased does not itself pose a serious problem for patient but fracture carries long-term consequences. The aim osteoporosis management, therefore, is prevention. Recently, World Health Organization Collaborating Centre introduced assessment tool (FRAXTM) to estimate probability fractures based on mineral density at femoral neck in conjunction with various clinical factors ; they recommend its use management. Japan-adapted FRAXTM yields 10-year hip osteoporotic fractures, which are calibrated incidence rate mortality Japanese men women. This tool, however, has some problems. review outlines methods special reference introduces modifications correct problems current tool.
