摘要: Biochemical markers of bone turnover provide a means evaluating skeletal dynamics that complements static measurements mineral density (BMD). This review evaluates the use commercially available as aids in diagnosis and monitoring response to treatment patients with osteoporosis. High within-person variability complicates but does not preclude their use. Elevated resorption appear be associated increased fracture risk elderly women, there is less evidence relationship between formation risk. The critical question predicting efficacy has been answered. Changes currently determined do predict BMD either bisphosphonates or hormone replacement therapy. Single cross-sectionally (except possibly very elderly), change individual patients, treated untreated. On other hand, research applications are value investigating pathogenesis diseases. Markers have potential clinical management osteoporosis, this regard established. Additional studies endpoints information on negative positive predictive needed evaluate fully utility patients.
